Jesse Tree: Day 5

The symbol for this day is a lamb. I’ve made two different lamb ornaments. The first one is made with white and black pom poms, and the second is made out of stitched felt.

We needed a spotless Lamb to redeem us from our sins. No human traditions could save us. We couldn’t work our way into the Kingdom of God. We needed a Deliverer:

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you”

1 Pet 1:18-21

I love that this passage also mentioned that He was “foreordained before the foundation of the world.” We’ve seen that in Days 1-4, and we will see it again and again.

We saw Abraham’s faith on Day 4, and how Abrahm was blessed because of His faith. When he offered up his only son, he showed faith that God could raise his son from the dead:

“By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”

Hebrews 11:17-19

And that is exactly what Jesus did, after dying on the cross for our sins.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Isn’t it neat to see how the Bible is woven together so well, with this message: Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, the Seed, the Final Sacrifice, was coming, once and for all to save the world. Sacrificing animals to atone for sins is no longer necessary. The Messiah came. He delivered us. It is finished. Praise God for that!
