Where to Find Coconut Flour

Since we’re on GAPS and we also have nut allergies in our home, we use a lot of coconut flour. Some of our favorite coconut flour recipes include

Coconut Flour Snickerdoodles

Fudgy Coconut Flour Brownies

Coconut Flour “Corn Bread”

Coconut Flour Pumpkin Muffins

What are the benefits of using coconut flour?

  • A little bit of coconut flour goes a long way! You will use 1/2 cup or so in a recipe that will make 12 muffins, so a pound of coconut flour will last you a while.
  • It is high in protein.
  • It does not contain any grains or nuts.
  • It has a naturally “sweet” flavor to it and works nicely in muffins or desserts.

But where do you find coconut flour? And is it expensive?

I recommend getting good quality coconut flour.  You can buy anywhere from 1 lb to 25 lbs at a time, and sometimes you can find it in the bulk bins. You can purchase coconut flour at:

  • health food stores
  • organic & natural grocery stores
  • online at stores like Amazon
Coconut flour will range in cost, anywhere from $5 to about $9 per lb, including shipping. I recommend getting Organic Coconut Flour.

Have you purchased coconut flour before? Where did you buy it?

  1. Brenda, what is the shipping from Wilderness Family Naturals? I have checked them out before and the shipping charges killed it for me. I usually buy from Tropical Traditions when they have free shipping or last time was $10 off…(covered shipping charges). Yes I end up paying about $4.54 per pound but that includes shipping…..

  2. I get my coconut flour at the GF store ‘near’ my house, its better quality than Bob’s and comes in bulk so more affordable. I will have to compare the cost the next time I pick some up-thanks for the great info! I really enjoy using coconut flour now that I cook primal and often (as a previous post of yours showed) GAPS has similarities so I have enjoyed your recipes!
