In addition, Form 4 & 5 students “Worldview,” or “Life” reading books as well, and worth through a list of Survival topics as independent study.

Life Skills

The STAR Life Skills include a list of life skills that every child should learn before they grow up; like washing the dishes, weeding a garden, and setting a table for guests. There are two life skills listed at a time (choose one, depending on the age of your child), and you will work on a life skill for two weeks, and then move on to the next life skill. There are a total of twenty-eight life skills per cycle. At this point, the Life Skills module is just a list of Life Skills. In the future, I hope to provide resources like books, videos, and links to aid you in this subject.

Habit Training

Habit Training includes one character trait per term (four per cycle), as well as suggested books and reading schedules for those books.

Survival

Students in Form 3 and above can study survival independently. There is a list of suggested survival skills to choose from, and students should choose one or two per term to focus on. At our homeschool community, students gave survival presentations to the class every four weeks or so.

Life Reading

There are optional Life Reading books scheduled for students in Form 3 and above. These books teach life skills like budgeting and setting goals. They include books like Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations by Alex and Brett Harris, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey.
