Ancient Rome and How it Affects You Today by Richard Maybury
Genevieve Foster wrote beautifully. This book is scheduled at a pace of ten to thirteen pages per week, depending on how the sections line up. Note that due to the time period, there is mention of Greek and Roman mythology, as we find in so many books that cover this time period.
