But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.1 Peter 3:15-16
Come join us on Monday afternoons and evenings during the 2022-2023 school year to learn how to defend your faith and stand strong for God’s glory!
Fellowship with other homeschool families, make friends, and gain knowledge and new skills.
Creation Worldview Class
3:30 pm to 5 pm, Ages 10-18 (whole family can participate)
Taught by Pat Roy, the creator of Jonathan Park. Pat teaches about the proof of God’s creation through science. He incorporates Fascinating presentations, humor, interesting videos, stunning graphics, hands-on experiments and activities, and optional homework. Students will be given a certificate of completion for each module they complete. To learn more about Pat’s Creation Worldview class, check out his website here.
Potluck & Worship
5 pm to 6 pm (whole family can participate)
Do you need time to fellowship with other homeschool families? Join us each week for a potluck and special time together.
Apologetics & Debate
6 pm to 9 pm, Ages 12-18 (whole family can watch)
Directed by Brenda Scott, former NCFCA debate mom. Guest speakers will include previous debaters and current college students. Students will learn to defend their faith and to give an answer for the hard questions that face them, through 1 hour of apologetics (from 6 pm to 7 pm). Then, we will have a guest speaker or coach share about how to debate well (from 7 pm to 8 or 8:30 pm). Then, students will head to break out rooms to practice their debates (8 or 8:30 pm to 9 pm). Students will have the option of competing in NCFCA tournaments. NCFCA stands for National Christian Forensics and Communications Association. Imagine your teen wearing business attire, praying with other teens (who they are about to argue with), and then standing in front of a judge or multiple judges, and debating topics that were once over their head.
This year’s team policy debate resolution is: “The United States Federal Government should significantly reform its import and/or export policy within the bounds of international trade.”
Your student probably does not know much about this subject–yet. Sign up for this debate club and watch your child flourish!

Counting Credits for these Courses
You can count the Creation Worldview class as 1.5 credits towards science and/or religion.
You can count Apologetics as 1 credit towards religion.
You can count Debate as 2 credits towards history and/or government and/or language arts (because students are researching, writing speeches and speaking).
We will meet for 24 weeks throughout the school year with breaks for holidays. You can see a copy of our calendar here.
Want Speech, Too?
While students will learn the Apologetics strand of NCFCA’s speech curriculum at Defenders of Truth on Mondays, we simply don’t have time to cover the rest of NCFCA’s wonderful speech curriculum. Students who are enrolled in STAR Homeschool Community on Wednesdays will get to learn the skills of giving a platform speech. If you are curious about STAR, check out the information meeting.
